Overview:

The Senior Designer is responsible for creating innovative and compelling design solutions that are consistent and strategically aligned with the Chumash Casino Resort (CCR) brand across media and promotions. The Senior Designer will be relied upon to produce work for multiple and/or larger projects.
Serves as an influential mentor to help develop junior Designers and promotes a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities:

 •  Responsible for developing and maintaining a strong understanding of the CCR brand, voice, and style-guide.
 •  Creates compelling work that meets the requirements outlined in CCR creative briefs.
 •  Effectively designs solutions in accordance with project constraints and parameters.
 •  Responsible for successful execution of creative and art direction on assigned projects, either independently or by leading junior designers, freelancers, and photographers as needed.
 •  Executes exceptionally high-quality design work on assigned projects in a variety of media.
 •  Regularly reviews creative work with the Creative Services Director to get feedback on direction and ensures the work is on strategy and aligned with the CCR brand.
 •  Assists Creative Services Director to develop “big-picture” ideas for campaigns and promotions.
 •  Engages in brainstorming sessions with creative and internal clients.
 •  Helps inspire, train, mentor, and develop more junior Designers.
 •  Provides leadership and fosters teamwork.
 •  Upholds a work environment that promotes teamwork, partnership, recognition, mutual respect, and collaboration while role modeling the company values, behaviors, and culture of One.Team.Chumash.
 •  Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

 •  Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field preferred or equivalent experience.
 •  Seven years’ design experience with a design firm, ad agency, or retail in-house agency.
 •  Superior experience in graphic design, typography, photo composition, retouching, layout best practices with a critical eye for kerning, leading, grids, space relationship, style guides, etc.
 •  Superior proficiency and experience with the full Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.).
 •  Strong advocate of brand discipline and brand consistency.
 •  Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with outside agencies, vendors and other team members.
 •  Proven ability to effectively work within a team.
 •  Strong initiative, highly self-motivated, willingness to approach work with a sense of urgency.
 •  Project management skills.
 •  Ability to effectively establish priorities and meet deadlines.
 •  Ability to handle pressure well, multi-task, and shift priorities as situations arise.
 •  Ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action.
 •  Extensive knowledge of print design, digital design, and production processes.
 •  Advanced proficiency with Apple Macintosh computers, Microsoft Office products, database applications, email, and internet.
 •  Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
 •  Native American hiring preference applies.
