As one integrated health system with the most patient access points in western Washington our team includes 18,000 staff and nearly 5,000 employed physicians and affiliated providers.
At Virginia Mason Franciscan Health you will find the safest and highest quality of care provided by our expert, compassionate medical care team at 11 hospitals and nearly 300 sites throughout the greater Puget Sound region.

If you have a passion for learning and want to move into patient care, our new Medical Assistant Apprenticeship program may be just what the doctor ordered.

We're proud to launch a fully paid ($22.50 per hour), on-the-job training program that will prepare apprentices to become medical assistants-certified (MA-Cs).

As a part of our organization, we currently offer the following additional benefits:
 •  Competitive starting wages (DOE) and training to grow within the company
 •  Paid holidays, vacation and sick time
 •  Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance plans
 •  Flexible health spending accounts: DCFSA and FSA
 •  Health Savings Account - (HSA) for use with the high deductible health plan
 •  Short and long term disability programs

“We deliver inspired people to do meaningful work.”

Responsibilities:

As part of the frontline care team, Medical Assistants are essential to providing great care to our patients. They help prepare patients for examination, measure vital signs, provide administrative support and work closely with doctors and nurses.

As an apprentice you will gain on the job training to learn the skills and knowledge to become a Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C).

Upon successful completion of the program you will be eligible to sit for the CCMA MA-C exam.

The program will give you tools and resources needed to be able to successfully pass the exam. The year-long paid MA Apprenticeship is packed with hands-on training, clinical experience, mentoring and classroom/online education, similar to what you would experience at a community or technical college.
But unlike those local college courses, our training program is 100% paid for by Virginia Mason in exchange for an agreement to continue to work for an additional two years after you obtain your MA-C designation (1st year after acquiring your MA-C License to stay with Department/Location that trained you)

Qualifications:

We require:

 •  High School diploma or GED required and must be 18 years or older by March 1, 2023.
 •  Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) as certified by the American Heart Association (AHA) (May be completed within the first 30 days of hire)
 •  Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English
 •  Proficiency in the use of computer programs and equipment utilized in a clinic setting (e.g., web-based EMR, web-based training platforms, general computer proficiency)
