LOCATION

Candidates should be based in the NY metro area as this position requires you to commute 2-3 times weekly to the New York City office.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the SVP of Development, the Grant Writer will conduct prospect research, develop concepts, and submit proposals for institutional and private funders. The Grant Writer will participate in the product/program design and strategy development process, as well as prospect development, and be responsible for writing narrative sections and editing narrative drafts, particularly those that require awareness of subject area trends and issues.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
 •  Research and identify prospects and grant-making organizations, analyzing them to identify likely funding sources;
 •  Collaborate with the team to identify fundable opportunities within the Comic Relief social impact strategy;
 •  Align fundable work with prospects to identify the best fit and positioning
 •  Communicate information of a highly complex nature in a clear, precise, and compelling way;
 •  Convey technical information in a clear and accessible manner to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences;
 •  Proof, standardize, and edit proposal sections written by others to ensure they reflect the language of the proposal;
 •  Research appropriate information to resolve questions and develop a case;
 •  Create, update, and maintain templates, boilerplate information, and online resources that support proposal development and submission processes;

ABOUT YOU
 •  Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred)
 •  A minimum of two years experience in grant writing;
 •  Strong knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process;
 •  Multitasking, organizational, and time management skills
 •  Writing samples may be requested during the selection process.
 •  Demonstrated superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills;
 •  Demonstrated commitment to poverty alleviation and social justice through lived and/or work experience, educational background, and volunteer experience (essential).
 •  Experience addressing the needs of children, advancing equity and justice for historically underserved communities (preferred).
 •  Passionate about and committed to social change and learning from and with nonprofit partners, in alignment with CRUS’ mission, vision, and values.
 •  Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources, along with a willingness and ability to quickly synthesize complex information into accessible and actionable formats;
 •  Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner;
 •  Experience in successful management of multiple concurrent projects to meet deadlines;
 •  Experience in developing, writing, and submitting successful grant applications;
 •  Highly motivated and excellent organizational skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines, and competing priorities
 •  Experience in working both independently and as part of a team, exercising a high degree of initiative;
 •  Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity;
 •  Strong problem-solver; ability to navigate various viewpoints to develop consensus.

THE PAY

CRUS offers competitive compensation. The salary range for this role is anticipated to be $5,000 - 7,000 per month. The actual salary is dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: abilities, skills, work experience, knowledge, business needs, and market demands.
The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified.
