Performs repairs and troubleshooting on food processing equipment to include, but not limited to: Vertical & Horizontal Form, Fill & Seal Machines, conveyors, metal detectors, X-Ray detectors, checkweighers/scales, labeling systems, bag sealers, ribbon blenders, sifters and pneumatic pressure conveying systems.

Responsibilities:

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

  1.  Installs or replaces motors, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, belts, filters, gears, chains and valves.
  2.  Rebuilds valves, pumps and gearboxes.
  3.  Troubleshoots pneumatic, electric and hydraulic machine problems and makes necessary repairs.
  4.  Ability to utilize electrical hand tools and devices to find short circuits and electrical faults.
  5.  Performs repairs to machines involving machine guarding, bolt replacement and breakdowns due to mechanical wear.
  6.  Performs preventive maintenance tasks such as lubricating parts, drives chains, etc.
  7.  Handles installations, including hooking up air, water, gas and the alignment and leveling of equipment.
  8.  Acts as a lead by training, mentoring and providing guidance to less experienced and hourly Maintenance employees.
  9.  Effectively reads & understands mechanical and electrical schematics to troubleshoot equipment issues.
 10.  Communicates effectively and professionally with superiors, peers and representatives from other departments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 •  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment; or 4 years’ direct experience in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance environment.
 •  Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma or Associate's Degree from a technical maintenance or vocational school, a plus.
 •  Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.
 •  Ability to work at heights and operate a forklift, articulating boom lift or scissor lift.
 •  Can understand and follow oral and written instructions.
 •  Ability to read, write the following; work orders, instructions, daily reports and machine manuals.
 •  Ability to receive and relate orders/information using various communication devices.
 •  Ability to work proactively without the presence of supervision or leadership.
 •  Ability to work overtime, weekends and other shifts when required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may act as a lead by providing training and guidance to others in the Maintenance department.

 •  The plant environment will include wet, dusty or humid conditions (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.
 •  Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
 •  Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
 •  Specific vision includes close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
 •  Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

Pay Range: USD $34.39 - USD $35.39 /Yr.
