About this Position

BRAYN is looking for a new team member! Interested in joining our dynamic team? We are in search of a Residential Energy Modeler to join our practice! As an Energy Modeler, you will assist project managers and partners with limited supervision in completing tax incentive studies for a variety of clients primarily in Texas and California.
You will support the team and our clients on a regular basis and be an essential component of our growing practice.

BRAYN Consulting LLC is a consulting firm that supports CPA firms and their clients in taking full advantage of specialty tax credits and incentives. We are currently a small firm but growing at a fast pace and we need high quality talent. We primarily serve closely-held, mid-sized companies.
This allows our partners and staff to experience a variety of issues, challenges, and opportunities different than those afforded by Big-4 or Top 10 Accounting Firms.

Location: Remote Position (Houston Based)

Key Responsibilities
 •  Complete studies for 179D Energy Efficient Commercial Building Tax Deductions, 45 L and Energy Star, as needed.
 •  Obtain and analyze sensitive client data in the form of drawings, specifications, project manuals, contracts, etc.
 •  Perform energy modeling analyses for 179D studies using DOE approved software.
 •  Effectively communicate technical findings to team members and clientele.
 •  Research, understand, and analyze many state and federal building codes, internal revenue codes, treasury regulations, tax court cases, etc.
 •  Document, review, and assemble comprehensive work product for review by IRS and FTB examiners.
 •  Communicate and interact directly with clients, CPAs, administrative staff, partners, and CEO about project status, etc.
 •  Work effectively in a team environment and train/assist others when necessary.

Skills & Qualifications
 •  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field required.
 •  Candidate who is pursuing a Professional Engineering/Architecture license preferred.
 •  Previous experience with CAD/Energy Modeling a plus.
 •  Previous work experience in AEC industry a plus.
 •  Some travel required (up to 10% of work time traveling).
 •  Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
 •  Time management and attention to detail.
 •  Ability to prioritize and multi-task on a variety of tasks and projects.
 •  Clear written and verbal communication skills, strong documentation skills.
 •  Strong client interaction skills.
