We are seeking a HIGHLY MOTIVATED self-starter with cargo handling and marine terminal operations expertise in a unionized environment and across all aspects of the industry, especially break bulk. If you have strong supervisory, safety, customer service and continuous improvement skills, then this is the right opportunity for you.

Qualifications:

 •  10+ years of cargo handling and marine terminal operations experience with a minimum of 5 years of management experience in a unionized environment.
 •  Bachelor’s degree from Maritime Academy, in Maritime Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred but not required.
 •  Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in all aspects of port processing, specifically, stevedoring and warehousing.
 •  Excellent leadership skills to coordinate efficient teamwork activities and promote total cooperation and management support. A passion for leading teams to succeed.
 •  Effective administration and management skills including Microsoft Excel and other similar programs. Ability to manage union labor.
 •  Decisive individual who possesses a strong operational focus.
 •  Exceptional analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
 •  Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.

Responsibilities:

 •  Provide regular and focused management of multiple terminals and vessel operations, consistent with the Company’s operating principles. Evaluate and adjust operations accordingly to varying market or customer needs.
 •  Ensure the organization’s commitment to safety and quality standards are at the forefront of daily operations. Assist in incident investigation to determine root cause and develop corrective actions.
 •  Maintain regular contact with peer customer relationships and calibrate operations, accordingly.
 •  Responsible for oversight of performance management and personnel actions involving front line employees.
 •  Develop the skills of supervisors, operators and general labor.
 •  Mentor and train current field management team.
 •  Identify individuals with potential and foster their development.
 •  Must possess strong communication skills. Must keep management informed in a timely manner of operational needs and incidents.
 •  Conduct field audits of operations / equipment.
 •  Ensure site management is conducting training for employees.
