Procurement Manager - Packaging

My client is a family owned and operated company within the consumer goods space. My clients is rapidly growing and looking to add additional support on their packaging procurement team. Job Description
1. Develop and implement procurement strategies for packaging materials that align with organizational goals, quality standards, and cost objectives.
2. Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers of packaging materials, ensuring they meet quality, sustainability, and regulatory requirements.
3. Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and service levels.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, logistics, quality assurance, and finance, to forecast packaging material requirements accurately.
5. Monitor market trends, industry developments, and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and risk mitigation.
6. Manage relationships with key suppliers, conducting regular performance reviews, addressing issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
7. Lead supplier selection processes, including RFQs, RFPs, and supplier audits, to assess capabilities and ensure compliance with standards.
8. Optimize inventory levels of packaging materials to minimize stockouts, reduce excess inventory, and improve working capital efficiency.
9. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and sustainability initiatives related to packaging materials.
10. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for packaging innovation, cost reduction, and sustainability improvements.
11. Develop and maintain procurement policies, procedures, and documentation related to packaging materials.
12. Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on procurement performance, cost savings, supplier performance, and risk management.

The Successful Applicant
1. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Proven experience (7 years) in procurement, supply chain management, or strategic sourcing, with a focus on packaging materials.
3. Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management and supplier relationship management.
4. Knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and industry trends.
5. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards for packaging materials (e.g., FDA, ISO, sustainability certifications).
6. Experience with procurement software tools and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
7. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
8. Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and influence stakeholders.
9. Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and adapt to changing business needs.
10. Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) is a plus.
What's on Offer
Target compensation for the Procurement Manager - Packaging is $100,000 - $130,000 + Bonus. Compensation is commensurate with candidate experience.
