What You'll Do:

As an Analyst II on the Retirement Plan Design Consulting team, you will have the opportunity to work alongside retirement plan design experts to create innovative solutions that meet the ever-changing needs of Principal’s largest clients! In this role you will utilize analytical techniques to create customized projects and reports that enhance plan design understanding, simplify complexities, and aid in decision making for retirement plan sponsors.
This role uses Microsoft Excel and Access, VBA, SQL, and SAP Business Objects to pull, organize, analyze, and present data for internal and external reporting. This is an exciting position that drives forward thinking solutions!

Additional responsibilities may include:

 •  Modeling cost, plan health, and participant outcome impacts when plan design changes occur.
 •  Benchmarking analysis on retirement plan design features.
 •  Cultivating and maintaining relationships with client services teams to gain ongoing understanding of specific client needs to facilitate delivery of valuable services.
 •  Support client retention and new business efforts.

Who You Are:

Skills required:

 •  Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, data analytics, statistics, math, actuarial science or equivalent experience preferred.
 •  2+ years related experience.

Successful candidates will have the following:

 •  Aptitude in programming languages, including SQL and VBA, preferred.
 •  Strong Excel background.
 •  Requires ability to work independently, good organization, prioritization, customer service, and oral and written communication.
 •  Strong problem solving, analytical, and big-picture/conceptual skills.
 •  Ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality.
 •  Good oral and written communication skills required.
 •  Good interpersonal, customer service, project management, and organizational skills.
 •  Demonstrates the ability to accept and adapt to a changing environment.
 •  Knowledge of spreadsheet and database or similar PC software packages, or the ability to learn, is preferred.

Salary Range Information:
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance.
Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range: $51000 - $98400 / year

Time Off Program:
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC).
