Job Description for Maintenance Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary:

GMP's and SOPs should be followed in conjunction with all HACCP, SQF, and SAFETY requirements and guidelines.

The Maintenance Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that the following tasks are performed in a timely manner.

Working in a poultry house environment in a Cage-free environment.

Ensuring Biosecurity processes are followed to help keep the overall health of the hens.

Responsible for cleaning the manure belt system and the back of the house.

Responsible for all repairs in the house.

Essential Duties, Functions, and responsibilities:

Performs maintenance activities related to the hen house to which they have been assigned.

Ensures proper techniques are being utilized when repair or preventive maintenance activities are being performed.

In conjunction with Management, performs analysis of equipment downtime to further develop and recommends Predictive Maintenance activities.

Coordinates all planned downtime activities with production to maximize equipment availability.

Resolves maintenance problems and recommends measures to improve operations or machine performance.

Ensures and maintains the safe and proper operation of hen house equipment and machinery.

Repairing and making improvements to building and infrastructure

Supporting the fire protection systems

Maintaining and repairing distribution center racking

Repairing and maintaining building pneumatic system

Maintaining an automated conveyor system

Completing preventative maintenance routines, documentation, and procedures

Tracking and storing the department's inventory, including spare parts

Supporting continuous improvement in all areas.

Takes corrective action, as necessary, to ensure machinery operates as safely, efficiently, and economically, as possible.

Helps to keep the work area clean on a routine basis.

Performs other functions as directed by the Manager, as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to work up to 6 days a week, including weekends and holidays

Ability to understand oral and written instructions in English and perform simple tasks.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering and professional license (cedula profesional)

Willing to work with their hands

Ability to perform essential duties in a safe and efficient manner.

Ability to maintain and record egg-gathering information.

Ability to gather eggs in a manner that prevents excessive breakage.

Ability to work with chemicals, such as detergents, disinfectants, etc.

Ability to perform work that is repetitive in nature.

Physical Requirements

Stand for long periods of time.

Grip, grasp, or twist using hands and wrists.

Lift and carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs or more.

Push, and/or pull up to 100lbs or more.

Bend and/or stoop repetitively throughout our shift.

Working Conditions/Department Description:

Working in a poultry house environment, including working outdoors and in seasonal conditions such as:

Working in very hot temperatures.

Working in very cold temperatures such as snow, sleet, etc.

Working in dry and/or dusty environments.

Working in damp and/or wet climates.

Working with live animals, and the associated environment, including but not limited to:

Working around farm-related smells or foul odors

Working in a loud/noisy environment.

Working in an environment with substantial dust circulation.
