Lead Montessori Teacher - Infant Classroom

As an Assistant Teacher, you will work closely with the Lead Teacher to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for our young learners. Your primary responsibility will be to support the implementation of the Montessori curriculum, fostering the social, emotional, and cognitive development of each child.

Key Responsibilities:

 •  Curriculum Planning: Develop and implement developmentally appropriate Montessori-inspired curriculum and activities tailored to the needs and interests of infants, fostering their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.
 •  Classroom Management: Create a safe, nurturing, and organized environment that promotes exploration, discovery, and independence among infants, maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the classroom.
 •  Individualized Learning: Observe each infant closely to understand their unique strengths, interests, and developmental milestones, and adapt teaching strategies and materials accordingly to support their individualized learning journey.
 •  Parent Communication: Establish and maintain open, positive, and collaborative communication with parents/guardians, providing regular updates on their child's progress, achievements, and any concerns or milestones.
 •  Staff Collaboration: Work closely with assistant teachers and other staff members to coordinate daily activities, share observations, and collaborate on curriculum planning and implementation, fostering a supportive team environment.
 •  Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development to stay informed about best practices in infant education, Montessori philosophy, and child development, and incorporate new knowledge and skills into classroom practices.
 •  Assessment and Documentation: Conduct ongoing assessments of infants' development and progress, documenting observations, milestones, and achievements in individualized portfolios or progress reports to share with parents and colleagues.
 •  Parent Education: Provide guidance, support, and resources to parents/guardians on topics related to infant development, Montessori principles, and parenting strategies, fostering a partnership between home and school.
 •  Safety and Health: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and guidelines, including safe sleep practices, proper sanitation procedures, and emergency preparedness protocols, to maintain a secure and healthy environment for infants.
 •  Cultural Sensitivity: Respect and celebrate the cultural diversity of families and infants in the classroom, incorporating multicultural perspectives into curriculum and activities to promote inclusivity and respect for all.
 •  Professionalism and Ethical Conduct: Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all interactions with children, families, and colleagues, maintaining confidentiality and upholding the values and mission of the Montessori school.

Education:

 •  High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
 •  Bachelor's (preferred)
 •  Must be Montessori certified or be willing to enroll in a 0-3 certification program upon acceptance of job offer

Experience:

 •  Daycare, pre-school, or K-12 Education: 1 year (required)
 •  Montessori experience (preferred)

License/Certification:

 •  CPR Certification (Required - can complete post offer)
 •  DCF Child Care 45 hours (Required - can complete post offer)
