Staff Accountant (Part-time)

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join a non-profit wellness center based in Burbank, California. The role involves managing all phases of accounting and finance systems, preparing financial statements, conducting financial analysis, and assisting with forecasting and budget preparation.
The successful candidate will also work closely with auditors and regulatory agencies, and will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial reporting and protecting agency assets. This is a part-time role that will require 25-30 hours of work per week.

Responsibilities:

 •  Manage and perform all phases of accounting and finance systems, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and bank account reconciliations
 •  Prepare monthly, quarterly, and/or yearly financial statements and conduct financial analysis
 •  Assist with forecasting, formulation, preparation, analysis, and revision of annual budgets
 •  Provide timely explanations of variances between actual results and forecasts/budgets; provide corrective action recommendations to management as necessary
 •  Prepare monthly reimbursement and financial status reports to agency’s funding sources, or upon request
 •  Work closely with auditors during the agency’s annual independent financial audit
 •  Prepare reports to regulatory agencies, and taxing authorities as required
 •  Recommend actions necessary to maintain a fiscally sound and controlled environment to ensure accurate financial reporting and protection of agency assets
 •  Prepare and update agency financial policy manual, as needed
 •  Review expenditures/invoices with the Executive Director for approval and prepare checks at least bi-weekly or as needed
 •  Other duties as assigned.
 •  Holds a minimum of 3 years of experience in the role of Staff Accountant or a similar position.
 •  Demonstrates proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
 •  Has substantial experience in Bank Reconciliation.
 •  Familiarity with General Ledger management.
 •  Has experience in preparing and documenting Journal Entries.
 •  Possesses knowledge and skills in Month End Close procedures.
 •  Skilled in the use of QuickBooks for accounting functions.
 •  Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
 •  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
 •  Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
 •  Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
 •  Demonstrates high level of professionalism and ethical conduct.
 •  Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
 •  Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
 •  Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
 •  Willingness to continually update skills and knowledge in the field of Accounting.
