Job Description

The Genomics Research Center (GRC) Immunology Computational Biology group at AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated, experienced computational biology leader to play an integral role in a multi-disciplinary team focused on developing new therapies for the treatment and cure of immunological diseases.
AbbVie’s GRC is a center of excellence for bioinformatics, functional genomics, human genetics and pharmacogenomics. GRC works across all R&D including discovery and clinical development, and multiple areas such as process sciences, search and evaluation and corporate strategy.

This position will be based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The candidate will lead a team focused on fibrotic diseases and work closely with computational biologists across the network and be embedded in research project teams in immunology discovery and precision medicine to analyze multi-omic datasets to derive insights into immunological diseases, identify novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers specific to patient cohorts and AbbVie pipeline drugs.
The successful applicant will address key project team questions related to forward and reverse translation, genomic biomarker identification and mechanistic characterization, and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders . In addition, the candidate will contribute to presentations at scientific conferences and publications of translational findings in peer reviewed journals, new drug applications and regulatory filings.

Key Responsibilities:

 •  Partner with immunology discovery and precision medicine to perform hands on omics data analysis to address key project questions related to forward/reverse translation, genomic biomarker development and mechanistic characterization
 •  Be our fibrotic disease area representative in program teams and coordinate cross-functional projects
 •  Provide expert guidance and suggestions on experimental design and analytical insights
 •  Perform novel target identification from internal and external omics data, and advance these targets into the immunology pipeline
 •  Support target and biomarker development for enterprise-critical late-stage programs experimental medicine and clinical trials
 •  Evaluate patient stratification hypothesis for immunological diseases and integrate with clinical trial data to predict personalized treatments
 •  Develop and implement analytical approaches and best practices for novel technologies such as spatial transcriptomics, single cell sequencing and CRISPR
 •  Hire, mentor and develop scientists with high caliber and potentialSignificant Work Activities -Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)
