Statement of Philosophy

At Saint Benedict School, we believe that education is more than just training for tests and jobs. It is the formation of the whole person in the perennial wisdom of Western Civilization, making him a standard, not just of his time, but of all times.
In this, classical education is eminently practical and urgently needed.
First Grade Teacher
The First-Grade Teacher will partner with parents and teachers to foster and promote student learning and moral development through a classical Catholic curriculum. The teacher will teach a grade-level elementary class covering all curriculum subject areas except Physical Education, Art, and Music.
Applicant Requirements
Applicant must
• hold a bachelor's degree or better from an accredited college or university
• have an advanced knowledge of early childhood education and reading acquisition strategies
• have a passion and commitment to classical education and Latin
• be able to communicate verbally and in writing clearly
• upon employment, be able to pass criminal background checks
• a strong understanding of Catholic traditions and beliefs
• hold a Virginia Teacher Certification or have the qualifications necessary to obtain one upon hire
