Investment Strategy Associate

The Investment Strategy Associate will be part of the Pension Strategy and Solutions Group within Mercers Wealth Business, focusing on Mercer's Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) clients.

The team develops asset allocation strategy, portfolio structure, and risk transfer ideas for clients, with a focus on corporate retirement plans (defined benefit and defined contribution plans).

We will count on you to:

Support lead investment strategists on strategic asset allocation studies

Provide analytical support on glide path design, asset allocation and liability hedge portfolio construction

Support the on-boarding process for new clients

Help maintain daily monitoring valuation model for clients, and provide ongoing updates for clients

Coordinate with operations and trading team on daily processes for funded status review and trading

Perform plan demographic analysis of defined contribution plans

Develop efficient portfolios and model custom target date fund designs for defined contribution plans

Perform stochastic analysis for development of custom target date funds

Help monitor investment de-risking trigger points for glide path clients

Work closely with client service teams to prepare quarterly reporting materials, including funded status performance and attribution analysis

Perform liability and asset risk analysis utilizing risk modeling tools

What you need to have:

BA/BS degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, or other business-related areas having strong quantitative and analytical analysis.

3+years of relevant experience in a pension-related actuarial or investment role

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, with actuarial and pension liability background, and will be able to apply processes and procedures to support the strategy setting process andclient on-boarding process

Must have the ability to work autonomously and to co-ordinate across multiple parts of the business

Strong quantitative skills, project management and communication skills

The candidate will be able to develop an understanding of pension risk management and liability hedge portfolio construction techniques and methodologies

High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Self-motivated, with an ability to work well in a highly collaborative team environment

Ability to multitask, manage multiple priorities and work in a rapidly changing and dynamic environment

High-level attention to detail and an understanding of its application to the bigger picture

Ability to acclimate quickly to understand asset-liability risk management and business concepts and apply critical thinking to the issues which will arise during projects

Desire to progress on actuarial or CFA exams, and be prepared to take and pass actuarial or CFA exams

The applicable base salary range for this role is $64,800 to $129,600.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
