Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior CNC Machinist for the Naval Surface Warfare Center Corona Division Navy Gage and Standards Laboratory supporting the Astrion Navy Division.

JOB DETAILS

LOCATION: NSWC Corona (Norco), CA
JOB STATUS: Full Time
TRAVEL: Occasional (5%)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
 •  High School diploma is required
 •  10+ years’ experience as a Machinist
 •  S. Citizenship required with ability to obtain SECRET-level DoD clearance.
 •  Proficient in the use of Mastercam, GIBBS CAM, or equivalent.
 •  Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
 •  College Math or Science credits or Vocational Training is preferred but not required
 •  Tool Maker or Mold Maker capabilities preferred but not required
 •  Knowledge of machining, tooling, and manufacturing theories and practices (including shop mathematics and standard handbook formulas).
 •  Ability to operate and program computer numeric controlled (CNC) mills and lathes
 •  Ability to read and interpret drawings of varying quality and specificity are necessary including knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
 •  Ability to generate detailed estimates for work to be performed.
 •  Ability to design, develop and manufacture tooling for unique installations.
 •  Ability to perform measurements using standard measuring instruments.
 •  Ability to interpret Coordinate Measuring Machine output data and inspection reports.
 •  Ability to make judgments and decisions within the framework of oral and written instructions

RESPONSIBILITIES
 •  Demonstrate cost effective manufacturing solutions in accordance with customer or system requirements.
 •  Demonstrate the ability to perform conventional and CNC precision machining operations and set-ups without supervision.
 •  Set up and operate most types of conventional and computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, band saws and drills.
 •  Produce desired cuts and finishes on various metals and other materials such as aluminum, high carbon and alloy steels, brass, nickel, rubber, plastics, Teflon, etc.
 •  Provide support to special projects for Navy programs and Interface Assessments.
 •  All actions are subject to regular reviews/audits by Quality Assurance personnel to ensure strict adherence to established procedures and processes.
 •  Follow strict Hazmat and Safety policy guidance and adhereto established procedures and processes.

*Starting salary: $56,000 -$65,000 annually*
