Virtus Healthcare Staffing is partnering with a Level I trauma center to find a qualified and experienced Laboratory Manager - Microbiology. This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated individual to lead a team and ensure the quality and efficiency of microbiology testing services within a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of the microbiology laboratory, including daily operations, staff management, budgeting, and quality control.
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, College of American Pathologists).
Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory policies and procedures.
Manage a team of laboratory technicians, including recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and development.
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely test results.
Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in microbiology testing methodologies.
Analyze and interpret laboratory data to identify potential patient issues.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and problem-solving activities.
Prepare and manage departmental budgets.
Champion a culture of safety and patient-centered care within the laboratory.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related applied science field (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry).
Minimum five (5) years of experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory.
Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience in a laboratory setting.
Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent agency (preferred).
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
In-depth knowledge of microbiology principles and practices.
Proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIS).
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
