SMV Recruiting is looking for a Director of Operations to work out of Dayton, OH. Our client is a large manufacturer who is building a new 600k sq. ft. warehouse facility, which acts as a 3PL. This person will have a deep knowledge of warehouse management and be the face of the plant, taking ownership of the development of the new facility and its employees.
Their ideal candidate will have 10+ years of management experience working in a 500K sq. ft+ warehouse, with extensive change management experience, outstanding leadership/team-building skills, in-depth knowledge of operations, processes, budgeting/P&L responsibilities and safety compliance protocol.
This is a direct hire role with competitive salary, bonus, and excellent benefits within a rapidly growing company. Up to 10% travel may be required.
Responsibilities:
• Lead development and manage project plan for new 600k sq. ft warehouse facility
• Lead the change management for the strategic growth strategy
• Build, develop and supervise a team of 300+ salaried and hourly employees
• Ensure safety is a top priority by actively contributing to safe work environment and training every day
• Provide leadership, coaching and support to warehouse staff to promote positive and efficient work environment
• Oversee and track seasonal budgets and manage facility finances to drive improved business decisions
• Monitor KPIs and develop improvement plans as needed
• Participate in accident investigations
• Manage inventory accurately and within cycle count policy requirements
• Work closely with logistics staff to develop and improve strategy
Requirements:
• Bachelors degree required; Major in Logistics, Business, Finance or Supply Chain preferred
• MBA is highly desirable
• Must have 15+ years managing large teams in either a warehouse OR distribution center
• Prior experience with building and integrating warehouses and distribution centers
• Must be strong with change management
• Expertise in design and layout of distribution facilities to maximize operational efficiency
• Knowledge of LEAN operating principles
• Strong leadership, team development and communication/presentation skills
• Experience managing budgets and financials for large facility
• Commitment to enforcing compliance/safety protocols
• Deep knowledge of WMS and logistics systems, SAP, PKMS, Excel, PowerPoint, and other business applications
• Ability to travel up to 15%
