Join our team at Amazing Athlete's After School Program at PS 166 as a Science K-1 Afterschool Instructor! We're seeking a dynamic and passionate educator to inspire the young minds of kindergarteners and first graders. Your mission is to make learning science enjoyable and accessible, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of discovery.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Develop and implement age-appropriate science curriculum for students in grades K-1.

Create engaging lesson plans and accompanying materials, such as slides and hands-on activities, based on provided outlines.

Utilize effective teaching strategies to convey scientific concepts in a digestible way for young children.

Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore and ask questions.

Use classroom management techniques to maintain a productive and respectful atmosphere during lessons.

Collaborate with colleagues and parents to support student learning and development.

Assess student progress and provide feedback to ensure academic growth.

Communicates effectively and timely with management regarding student and program related matters.

Uses company-wide digital platforms to perform administrative tasks (ie: taking attendance, submitting incident reports as needed, etc.)

Schedule:

Days: Wednesday & Friday

Time: 2:40pm - 5:40pm

Requirements

Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.

Bachelor's degree with a focus on education preferred.

Basic knowledge of science and the scientific method.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts, rules and expectations in a clear and understandable way for young children.

The ability to create effective lesson plans and teaching materials.

Confidence and assertiveness in using voice for classroom management purposes.

Ability to take initiative and work independently, while also collaborating effectively with others.

Must be punctual and reliable

Excellent organizational and time management skills

High level of professionalism and motivation

Neat, professional appearance
