We are seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to strengthen our client's IT security team in Seattle, Washington. This role involves the design, implementation, and management of security controls and technologies to ensure robust protection of their systems, networks, and data from cyber threats.
The ideal candidate will have a strong system administration background and a keen understanding of security principles and best practices.

Responsibilities:

 •  Design, implement, and manage security controls and technologies to safeguard our systems, networks, and data against cyber threats.
 •  Carry out regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests to proactively spot and mitigate security risks.
 •  Collaborate with system administrators and IT teams to integrate security best practices into system designs and configurations.
 •  Monitor security logs and respond to security incidents, conducting thorough investigations and implementing remediation actions.
 •  Develop and upkeep security policies, procedures, and documentation in line with industry standards and compliance requirements.
 •  Conduct security awareness training sessions for staff to improve overall security posture and promote a culture of cybersecurity.
 •  Stay updated with emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies, and recommend security enhancements accordingly.
 •  Assist in the planning and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
 •  Evaluate and recommend security tools, solutions, and services to enhance our security posture.
 •  Utilize skills in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Checkpoint, Computer Hardware, Configuration Management, Design, Firewall Technologies, Application Security, System Administration, Microsoft 365 Enterprise to perform job duties effectively.

 •  This is a full-time position based in Seattle, WA and offers a hybrid remote schedule of 1-2 days onsite per week.

 •  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
 •  Proven experience (5+ years) in system administration roles, managing and maintaining enterprise-level IT infrastructure.
 •  Strong proficiency in system and network administration, including Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc.
 •  Experience with VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V administration, M365, AWS.
 •  Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and best practices.
 •  In-depth knowledge of the OSI model as it pertains to troubleshooting and system architecture
 •  Experience with security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), SIEM, antivirus, and endpoint security solutions.
 •  Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning tools, penetration testing, and incident response procedures.
 •  Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS) and experience implementing security controls to meet regulatory requirements is preferred
 •  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
 •  Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
 •  Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent are preferred.
