Under direction of the Director of Operations, the production supervisor position is responsible for supervising shop employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment.

The supervisor oversees the manufacturing of products by organizing and monitoring work flow. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and operating procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, and working conditions.

Swing Shift

The swing shift supervisor may be asked to oversee numerous departments at once. A general knowledge of each area is beneficial. This may include fabrication, machining, powder coating, welding, and assembly of heavy machinery.

Responsibilities:

Communicates job expectations to staff by monitoring, appraising job results, coaching, and disciplining employees, while enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending Itochu educational workshops and reviewing state-of-the-art and best practices.

Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process, observing control points and equipment, monitoring personnel and resources, implementing cost reductions, correct quality issues, and focus on “error-proofing” manufacturing processes.

Evaluates production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, and reporting important results of the shift production to the Director of Operations.

Manage department performance including cross training and monitoring units produced. Defines the daily goal and monitors progress during the shift.

Evaluates systems and procedures by analyzing operating needs, and budgetary and personnel requirements.

Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.

Assists Environmental Health & Safety Manager to inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization. Perform accident investigations and work with EHS Manger to define corrective actions plans.

Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Work to continuously improve in all areas.

Track absenteeism and timekeeping and report employee issues. Create corrective actions if necessary.

Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to Human Resources Manager for action.

Safely operates a hoist and forklift as needed.

Performs other duties that may be assigned.

Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage direct reports such as Department Leads and employees in all departments. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these lines. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work. The supervisor appraises performance, rewards and disciplines employees, while addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

Associates degree (A. A.) from two-year college; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Timekeeping systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software (MS Office).
Knowledge of SAP software is preferred.

The employee may be asked to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Employee may be exposed to various chemicals such as lactol fuel, cleaners, etc.

Noise level in the environment is loud and hearing protection is required.

Compensation and Benefits:

 •  Pay wage: $64k /yr +DOE
 •  Shift: Swing (3pm-1:30am)
