The Senior Mechanical Engineer, reporting to the Engineering Director, will be responsible to lead the mechanical design of various types of fluid fill and pumping system projects. The successful candidate will coordinate, design, support build, and document mechanical drawings for various types of automated fluid fill equipment, servicing the automotive and non-automotive power equipment industry.

This individual will be a key member of the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering teams. Must be able to prioritize workloads, balance multiple projects simultaneously, work cross-functionally and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be committed to the highest level of quality and the development of other team members. The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for current and future work, while ensuring that equipment is designed to meet customer and company build specifications.

Primary & Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Prioritize and schedule work assignments to meet deadlines or as directed

Designing and implementing cost-effective fluid fill equipment designs, pump systems, and/or modifications to existing designs

Developing, testing, and evaluating theoretical designs

Discussing and solving complex problems with manufacturing departments

Making sure a product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments

Managing multiple project designs to complete on timeline and within budget using engineering principles and techniques

Planning, specifying, and designing production processes per customer specifications

Producing details of specifications and outline designs

Using research, analytical, conceptual, and planning skills, particularly mathematical modeling, and computer-aided design

Review and redline drawings to ensure it meets customers specifications

Review customer fabrication drawings and verify that proper material is specified for the design and application

Create a BOM, obtain costs, and develop quotes for the customer fabrication designs

Create piece part drawings for the fabrication team to the customer's final design

Assist the repair/production depts with technical support and sourcing component parts if/when needed.

Consider the implications of issues such as cost, safety, and time constraints

Other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary

Education/Skills/Experience Required:

4 YEAR MINIMUM EXPERIENCE in process related field and ideally with deep fluid dynamics experience including PID.

A degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; but not mandatory.

Experienced in AutoCAD, Autodesk and Solid works, parametric design knowledge would be a plus.

Ability to review and check finished machine and system layouts.

Experience must include background in detailing, layout, conceptual design as well as checking & approving designs before release to the shop floor

Ability to read and interpret customer specifications and to translate that information into design concepts.

Willing to work in office and interface with shop floor as required

Willing to work overtime when required

Willing to travel when required (domestic and international)

Self-Disciplined team player

Experience with Customer interaction

Good verbal and written communication skills

Ability to conceptualize modern design then follow through to completion

Ability to specify fabrication materials (steel, alum, plastic, etc.)

Ability to size cylinders, transmissions, and motor drives

Ability to specify welding requirements

General knowledge in electrical systems, design, programming, etc.

Knowledge in specifying machining requirements

Must be able to prioritize work assignments as well as work within a collaborative and driven team environment
