Job Summary:

This role involves service and maintenance work within the Jacksonville International Airport Aviation Authority. The work requires knowledge of maintenance routines and procedures, learned on the job. The incumbent will have contact with passengers, visitors, and employees, necessitating basic courtesy and tact.
Maintenance work is routine, following specified instructions and established work routines. It is performed indoors, with known, predictable, and controllable risks and hazards. The job involves operating power equipment, using ladders, high lifts, and hazardous chemicals during routine equipment maintenance.
Physical demands include walking, standing, sitting, and bending, exposure to dust, dirt, and other unpleasant conditions, and lifting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The work is performed under immediate supervision, following established procedures and routines.
Shift work (day, night, and overnight) may be required, as well as assisting other departments with facility or customer needs.

Essential Functions:

Performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance work in the operation of all airport facilities.

Assists with repairs and services of plumbing fixtures and related items.

Assists in the performance of preventative maintenance, repairs on equipment, and component parts of all associated systems.

Performs pressure washing of buildings and walkways.

Performs landscape and minor construction.

Performs asphalt, concrete, and fence repairs.

Operates a variety of hand and power tools.

Assists journeyman-level craft and trade staff.

Provides assistance to facilities attendants with high-level dusting.

Responsible for cleaning all building mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, and IT rooms.

Assists in stocking supplies and parts.

Assists other departments in moving and/or relocating furniture.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of standard tools, materials, and procedures used in maintenance work.

Knowledge of methods, practices, tools, equipment common to construction, maintenance, landscaping, and repair.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to make minor repairs to maintenance and cleaning tools and equipment.

Ability to perform a variety of physical labor and duties associated with maintenance tasks.

Ability to read and write in English.

Ability to physically move and lift maintenance equipment and furniture.

Ability to care for and operate various types of power and manual equipment used for maintenance.

Ability to understand and analyze information, evaluate results to choose the best solution, and solve problems.

Must possess a positive attitude, be focused on customer service, and work well with others in a team environment.

Required Education & Experience:

High School Diploma or its equivalent.

One (1) year of maintenance work experience.

Licenses & Certifications:

Must obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.

Florida Class E Driver's License is required and must be maintained.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands consist of moving from one work location to another, standing for extended periods, and may involve lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
