Overview:We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Tax Manager with a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation to lead our tax department. The Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax planning, compliance, and reporting for our organization.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive tax expertise, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to excellence in tax management.

Responsibilities:

Tax Planning: Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize the organization's tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations. Provide proactive tax planning advice to optimize financial outcomes.

Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, property tax, and other regulatory filings. Review tax returns prepared by staff or external tax advisors for accuracy and completeness.

Tax Reporting: Prepare and review tax provisions, including deferred tax assets and liabilities, for financial reporting purposes in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Coordinate with the finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate tax reporting in financial statements.

Tax Research: Stay abreast of changes in tax laws, regulations, and rulings affecting the organization. Conduct research and analysis on complex tax issues and provide guidance on tax implications of business transactions and decisions.

Audit Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for tax authorities and external auditors during tax audits and examinations. Prepare responses to tax inquiries, provide documentation, and represent the organization in tax matters.

Tax Strategy Development: Collaborate with senior management and business leaders to develop tax-efficient strategies that support the organization's goals and objectives. Advise on tax implications of strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and investments.

Staff Management: Supervise and mentor tax department staff, including tax accountants and analysts. Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure the professional development and success of team members.

Risk Management: Identify and assess tax risks and exposures, and implement controls and procedures to mitigate risks. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments to anticipate potential impacts on the organization's tax position.

Tax Compliance Program: Establish and maintain a comprehensive tax compliance program, including policies, procedures, and internal controls, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of tax filings and reporting.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related field required; masters degree in taxation or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation strongly preferred.

5+ years of progressive experience in tax accounting and compliance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation required.

Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax laws and apply them to business situations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate tax concepts to non-tax professionals.

Proficiency in tax software (e.g., ProSystem FX, UltraTax) and Microsoft Excel.

Experience with tax provision software (e.g., Thomson Reuters OneSource, Corptax) preferred.

Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.

Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
