Aethon Energy Operating LLCs (Aethon) Manager Internal Controls is primarily responsible for maintaining and documenting processes related to the Companys internal controls over financial reporting and leading/performing internal audit projects.
This position would also be responsible for coordinating with the outsourced Internal Audit function to reply and respond to internal audit findings and recommendations.

DUTIES & JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 •  Implement and drive compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley-related programs as the baseline including risk identification, control gaps, risk control matrix, proposals around remediation, cross team collaboration on such efforts
 •  Design and execute operational audit programs including understanding business processes and underlying systems, conducting interviews and process walkthroughs, and performing audit procedures to assess the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the key business processes
 •  Implementation of an internal controls test plan including coordination of internal resources, testing, ensuring test results are properly documented and issues are appropriately raised & resolved
 •  Establish good relationships and become a trusted resource for business partners to drive maintenance of control and process documentation (policies, procedures, narratives, control matrices, etc.)
 •  Document and report the results of internal control testing including remediation actions to management, communicating control gaps and deficiencies to process owners and other business leaders
 •  Continuously work towards global process improvement to become and maintain SOX-level compliance requirements and stay on top of new developments and trends related to SOX legislation, COSO framework and PCAOB standards
 •  Work closely with IT Management to evaluate and ensure compliance of key financial systems and lead change management practices
 •  Collaborate with the internal and external partners to execute audits and drive resolution on issues, as well as work cross-functionally within the organization to support various stakeholders on internal control related matters, including but not limited to other Controllership functions, HS&E, Financial Planning and Analysis, IT, HR, and many others
 •  Support quarterly/yearly audits including control related matters and discussions and directly interact and manage relationships with external auditors and ad-hoc projects
 •  Assist with annual external audit process
 •  Implement an enterprise risk management process; process will include quarterly meetings with risk leaders and communicating findings/gaps to executive management.

Requirements

Education & Work Experience:

 •  Bachelors Degree in Accounting
 •  Minimum of 2 years of oil & gas accounting or midstream experience is preferred
 •  Public accounting or internal auditing experience with Big 4 firms is preferred
 •  Experience in performing operational internal audits is preferred but not required

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

 •  6+ years relevant SOX 404 compliance, internal controls, internal auditing, accounting, and testing experience
 •  4+ years of oil and gas E&P or midstream experience preferred
 •  CPA preferred
 •  Progressive experience and understanding of SOX requirements, including experience in defining and designing controls is required
 •  Extremely strong proficiency in Excel and MS Office is required
 •  Must have strong analytical and accounting skills

 •  Highly detail oriented and organized in work with ability to meet assigned deadlines
 •  Must be a "self-starter" with a can-do demeanor
 •  Excellent communication (written and verbal), organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to collaborate cross functionally and drive resolution
 •  Ability to learn and document processes accurately and efficiently
 •  Must be willing to work extended hours to support as necessary, particularly around month-end reporting
 •  Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem-solving, and results

Physical & Other Requirements:

 •  Must be eligible to work in the United States
 •  Successful candidate will be able to meet company standard background check specific to individual role prior to employment and will be subject to Company Drug & Alcohol Program
 •  Position is an indoor office position which will require remaining in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time
