Meyer Orthodontics is actively seeking applicants for the role of Orthodontic Assistant. Successful candidates will be friendly and outgoing, display excellent interpersonal communication, be collaborative and detail-oriented. Our mission at Meyer Orthodontics is to provide elevated care to our patients through small actions that result in big change.
This position plays a pivotal role in this mission by guiding patients through their treatment journey with a focus on a positive patient experience. Orthodontic/Dental Assistants are also responsible for assisting the orthodontist in clinical treatment of patients and for the cleanliness of the clinical area, sterilization of instruments and stocking all the clinical supplies.
Both full time and part time are available as pay is hourly.
Starting pay is $20-$30 based on experience.
Requirements
Education & Experience Requirements:
Licensed Dental Assistant in the state of South Dakota
Orthodontic experience not required
Responsibilities Include:
Patient Flow Greet patients in a warm and friendly manner.
Cleaning and preparation of units/chairs before each patient.
Greet and seat patients and guiding the patient through their appointment
Anticipate and assist the orthodontist’s needs.
Charting of patient procedures to include charges (if applicable), procedure and length of time for next visit.
Dismissal of patient and explanation of procedure to parent with review of progress.
Clinical Procedures Radiographs to include panoramic and cephalometric radiographs
Intraoral digital scans for appliances
Intraoral and extraoral photographs
Placement and removal of separators
Checking all patient appliances prior to adjustment or wire changes
Changing archwires or elastic ties
Deliver retainers and other removable appliances
Banding and bonding procedures
Debanding/debonding procedures
Removal of bonding materials
Give patient instruction for cooperation and motivation
Re-cementing loose bands/rebonding of loose brackets
Documentation of all communication and procedures in patient chart
Fabrication or fitting of headgears, lip bumpers and preformed appliances
Cleaning Protocols Cleaning and replenishing of clinical supplies
Duplicating patient records and x-ray films
Preparing bracket setups
Perform other tasks as assigned by the orthodontist(s)
Computer Programs Used:
Google Suite (Gmail, Google drive: Docs, Sheets, Calendar)
Orthodontic Management Software (Dolphin Management)
Hours:
Monday: 7:30am-5pm
Tuesday: 7:30am-5pm (every other week in Madison, SD)
Wednesday: 7:30am-5pm
Thursday: 7:30am-4pm
