Senior Design Technician
6+Month Contract

Client is seeking a Design Technician to join the team. In this role, you will be the primary resource for producing drawings for the engineering department. You will coordinate with team members to ensure compliance with design standards, issue design packages to construction personnel, analyze customer requests for code compliance, and maintain professional relationships with external customers and agencies.
Additionally, you will assist in the development and maintenance of design standards, provide training and assistance to lower-level Design Technicians, and contribute to project close-outs and database maintenance.
Responsibilities:
Prepare discipline-specific design drawings, including electrical and civil design drawings (Substation and Transmission Engineering Only), telecommunication design drawings (Telecom Engineering Only), and gas distribution design drawings (Gas Engineering Only).
Coordinate efforts with other departmental personnel to ensure that design work is in accordance with design standards.
Execute the issuance of design packages to construction personnel.
Analyze customer requests to determine compliance with national and local codes and standards.
Develop and maintain professional and technical relationships with external customers and local government agencies.
Implement and coordinate the development, integration, and maintenance of applicable compatible units and other design standards and processes.
Assist and train lower-level Design Technicians.
Assist with project close-outs, including record drawings and mapping updates.
Maintain department facilities Access database.
Requirements:
Associate degree from an accredited school in engineering or design-related fields and 5 years of experience as an Associate Design Technician.
Alternatively, candidates without an associate degree must have a minimum of 7 years of related work experience in the design field.
Demonstrated knowledge of drafting utilizing both manual and computer-aided design tools.
Familiarity with design and construction standards, as well as interpreting company and outside agency standards.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Proficiency in PCs, AutoCAD software, PLS-CADD (Transmission only), word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
Ability to work in a general office environment with no special physical demands required.
