Pay Rate: $16.50/hr. W2
Job Description:
Knowledge of general aquatic operating policies and procedures; life-saving techniques, modern first aid, and water safety techniques; applicable laws, ordinances, policies, standards, and regulations about the specific duties and responsibilities of the job; pool equipment and maintenance; of rules and regulations of games being officiated.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with department staff and the general public; performing basic pool facility maintenance; maintaining current knowledge of rule updates to games.
Effective communication skills and the ability to understand and follow through with verbal and written instructions.
Essential Functions:
Lifeguard 2: Supervise pool facilities with priority given to the safety of patrons.
Enforce water safety rules, rescue persons in distress, perform first aid and CPR as needed, and complete records and required maintenance.
Must be comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
Minimum Requirement:
Must have a current client, YMCA, along with Standard First Aid and client CPR for the Professional Rescuer including AED or the equivalent from the American Heart Association.
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Possess effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to understand and follow through with directions.
Physical Demands:
Lifeguard 1, 2, and 3 positions in this class typically require sight, hearing, speech, walking, stooping/bending, standing, sitting, reaching, coordination, manual dexterity, climbing, mental alertness
Work Environment:
Aquatics Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
