POSITION SUMMARY:

Please note; this is an on-call position and carries no regular hours.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Major functions why this position exists.

Performed majority of the time -- please start with the responsibilities that are the most time consuming:

 •  Picks up and delivers specimens, reports, supplies, x-rays and mail to physician offices and other entities while maintaining a schedule and documentation.
 •  Works with the Transportation Coordinator to be sure that route schedules are kept up to date and communicates changes.
 •  Keeps work areas clean and well stocked.

Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:

 •  Follows up all problems or errors by collecting documentation for lab managers.
 •  Assists in reviewing process for improvement.
 •  Participates in training of employees to assure that all transportation staff receives appropriate training and maintain competency.
 •  Participates on hospital committees and transportation teams as needed.
 •  Looks for ways to improve customer service.
 •  Provides input for revising and presenting new procedures.
 •  Assists with supply ordering and restocking, as needed.
 •  Supports team and patient care by being available to cover vacation and sick time for coworkers.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

Required
 •  Must be able to read, write and understand conversational English.

Preferred
 •  N/A

Experience:

Required
 •  Must have a minimum of two (2) years driving experience.

Preferred
 •  Phlebotomy and/or laboratory experience helpful.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

Required
 •  Current Oregon or Washington driver’s license, be at least 21 years old with minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the type of vehicle being driven.

Job Related Skills, Abilities and Behaviors:

Required
 •  Possesses customer service experience.
 •  Uses effective communication skills.
 •  Personal appearance makes a good first impression.
 •  Flexible, able to work to meet the needs of the department.
 •  Assumes responsibility for maintaining competency in all areas where training was completed.
 •  Demonstrates confidentiality according to PHI regarding patient and co-worker information.
 •  Demonstrates problem solving and prioritizing skills in order to meet deadlines for deliveries and pickups.
 •  Functions as a cooperative transportation and laboratory team member, supporting others and assuming team leader or facilitator role when requested.

 •  Must provide own transportation.
 •  No more than:

o One (1) accident and two (2) moving violations or

o Two (2) accidents and one (1) moving violation or

o No accidents and three (3) moving violations on or off the job and

o No conviction for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), license suspension, auto felony conviction or other serious violations within the past 36 months.
