Job Purpose

New Destiny Housing manages day-to-day operations of over 300 units and growing. New Destiny prides itself on providing exceptional property management services that meet the needs of our residents. The focus is providing trauma-informed property management services in order to focus on the ongoing housing stability of our tenants.

The Compliance Specialist supports the daily operations of all New Destiny Housing’s properties in the Bronx and Brooklyn by performing administrative tasks, ensuring all tenant files are up to date and compliant with LIHTC regulations, and communicating with investors and compliance agencies.

Duties and Responsibilities

Recertifications:

  • Schedule and conduct both on-site and off-site resident recertification interviews and document reviews.
  • Prepare and send reminder notices to the residents in the regulatory required time period for recertifications.
  • Organize electronically all completed documentation and ensure requests for documentation are updated and accurate. All forms are entered into Pronto.
  • Process annual recertifications for all units as per each building’s requirements.
  • Complete all initial Tenant Income Certifications (TICs) prior to move-in. Complete all renewal TICs yearly and ensure accuracy.
  • Internally audit all files continually to ensure that they are agency audit ready.
  • Ensure all pathways to communication are met for yearly recertification communication with tenants, being creative with outreach and engagement and meeting all tenants needs.
  • Oversee the process to move forward with proceedings for tenants who do not complete recertifications in a timely manner.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting as needed.
  • Track audits and reporting, creating systems to keep all required documentation organized and up to date.
  • Ensure sensitive resident and compliance data is handled securely and confidentially.
Support and Collaboration:
  • Serve as a compliance resource internally for the property management team and the finance team as needed.
  • Partner with the Assistant Property Manager to develop corrective action plans and mitigate identified risks.
  • Respond to all investor requests for reports and collaborate with the finance team to submit all required documentation by the date requested.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned and needed.
Qualifications
  • 2-4 years’ experience in compliance and property management of LIHTC properties required, experience in supportive housing settings preferred.
  • LIHTC Certified highly preferred.
  • Experience using property management software required.
  • Ability to work independently on deadline-driven tasks.
  • Experience working with diverse populations. An understanding of trauma-informed care practices preferred.
  • Position is mostly in person with flexibility. Travel throughout the five boroughs is required.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is strongly preferred.

Compensation/Benefits

Salary range is $75,000-$80,000. This is a full-time position with a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, short disability, PTO paid holidays and 401(k). EOE
