Job Details
  • Location: Durham, NC 27710 (Raleigh–Durham area)
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks (May 18, 2026 – August 17, 2026)
  • Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:30)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 – $2,010
  • Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents
  • Unit Size: 20 beds, average daily census of 20
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes, as needed
  • Orientation: Bi-weekly, 36 hours

Job Requirements / Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of recent PICU or Pediatric CVICU RN experience required (pediatric critical care nurse experience preferred)
  • Active North Carolina RN license or Compact RN license in hand
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required at time of submission
  • Experience with Epic EMR preferred (Epic documentation experience a plus)
  • Previous charge, community hospital, LTAC, and trauma level I/II experience preferred
  • Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
  • One supervisory reference from the past year required
  • First-time travel nurses welcome — travel nurse and travel RN candidates encouraged to apply
Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality, family-centered care to critically ill pediatric patients, including those with complex congenital heart conditions
  • Manage advanced therapies and equipment such as VADs, ECMO, CRRT, ventilators, and arterial lines
  • Administer medications, blood products, and specialized treatments safely and accurately
  • Monitor and interpret vital signs, hemodynamics, and laboratory results; implement timely interventions
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including respiratory therapists, pharmacists, social workers, and physicians
  • Document patient care accurately using the Epic EMR system
  • Participate in bi-weekly orientation and ongoing education modules to maintain clinical competency
  • Float to other units as needed and provide weekend coverage every other weekend
