Opportunity:

Surg Assistant - Surg Assistant

Job Details:

  • Work as CVOR/Surgical Assistant (not a surgical tech)
  • Start times between 5:30 AM to 6:30 AM
  • Average 10 cases per day
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • Handle cardio and thoracic surgeries including CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic cases, generator exchanges, lead extractions, heart transplants, and fem-pop bypass
  • Work independently with minimal guidance in fast-paced environment
  • Required certifications: BLS, graduation from accredited school (required), CSFA (preferred)
  • 2 years of surgical assist experience required
  • Not recommended for first-time travelers
  • Strong CVOR background needed across all specialties
  • 2 weeks of orientation provided
  • Weekend rotation on-call only
  • Once per month weekend 24-hour call Saturday/Sunday 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM
  • End of shift call up to once per week
  • 30-minute response time required
  • Holiday expectations are on-call only as needed
  • Must adhere to fatigue policy - cannot work more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
  • Use EPIC charting system, Alaris, Pyxis, and DaVinci XI equipment
  • Scrub colors provided
  • Free parking available

Facility:

This healthcare facility is a Level III Trauma Center with Magnet Designation and serves as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The facility features 938 beds total with 8 CVOR beds. The surgical team consists of two RNs per case including a circulator and med RN.

The facility provides comprehensive support including department supervisors, team leads, 24/7 anesthesia availability, and surgical assistant leads to assist with instrumentation and preference cards.
