Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN with strong multi-organ transplant experience (liver, heart, lung, and kidney) and Misonix/CUSA proficiency for a travel assignment at a short-term acute care teaching hospital in Weston, FL.
Details- Work setting is a 230-bed short-term acute care teaching hospital
- Assignment in the Operating Room with a focus on transplant cases including liver, heart, lung, and kidney
- Shift is days, 4x10-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 5:15 PM, with liver transplant call coverage
- Will perform other OR cases when no liver/transplant cases are scheduled
- On-call required: 1 shift per week and 2 twelve-hour weekend shifts per month
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling is not available
- Epic EMR (experience preferred)
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Active FL RN license or compact RN license (pending license accepted)
- Current AHA or American Red Cross BLS and ACLS required at time of consideration
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification must be obtained prior to start date
- Minimum 2 years of direct OR RN experience with transplant
- Must have hands-on implantation experience (organ recipient cases), not procurement/harvesting only
- Strong demonstrated experience in liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant surgeries required — this is non-negotiable
- Proficiency with Misonix/CUSA equipment required
- No license history with any disciplinary actions accepted
- Facility requires candidates to be nicotine-free; a negative 10-panel drug screen including cotinine is required within 12 months of start
- 2 supervisor/manager-level professional references required for consideration
- Valid driver's license and Social Security card copy required
- Perform intraoperative scrub and/or circulating duties across transplant and general OR cases including liver, heart, lung, and kidney
- General surgery cases include appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures, mastectomy, and Whipple procedures
- Responsibilities include infection control, laser safety, specimen handling and labeling, universal protocol (time-out), urinary catheterization, and wound management
- EKG and pharmacology tests are required during orientation — 2 attempts maximum with no remediation allowed; travelers may be cancelled for failure (study materials provided)
- Pre-start modules averaging 6–15 hours must be completed promptly upon confirmation; these are non-billable and time-sensitive
- Scrub color is ceil blue
- Parking is free in any unrestricted space
- This is a smoke-free facility with a strict nicotine-free policy — no exceptions
- Previous permanent or per diem employees of Cleveland Clinic cannot return for 1 year from their previous end date
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- All requested time off must be submitted upfront; RTO requests submitted after the initial submission will not be reviewed
- Holiday coverage expectations will be discussed with the nurse manager at time of interview
