Compensation: $70,304 per year

Part-time, Salaried, 8 hours per week

Nexus HR is looking for a mission-driven Psychiatrist to serve as our Medical Director, providing clinical leadership and oversight while helping shape the future of community mental health care in San Leandro for a nonprofit mental health clinic dedicated to expanding access to high-quality psychiatric care for underserved and vulnerable communities in the East Bay.

About the Job

The Medical Director plays a critical leadership role in ensuring clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care across the clinic. This position is ideal for a psychiatrist who is deeply committed to serving those in need, values collaborative leadership, and wants to make a meaningful impact beyond individual patient encounters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide clinical oversight and supervision of Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Physician Assistants (PAs), and other mental health clinical staff
• Lead the development, review, and approval of clinical protocols, policies, and procedures (P&Ps)
• Oversee quality assurance activities, including clinical audits, risk management, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, licensing requirements, and applicable standards of care
• Chair and lead clinical meetings, case conferences, and training programs
• Serve as a clinical leader and resource for staff, fostering a culture of ethical, patient-centered, and trauma-informed care
• Work collaboratively and transparently with the Clinical Director, clinic leadership, and multidisciplinary staff

Qualifications:

• MD or DO with board eligibility or board certification in Psychiatry
• Active, unrestricted California medical license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Experience working in outpatient psychiatry, community mental health, or nonprofit healthcare settings strongly preferred
• Demonstrated leadership experience or strong interest in clinical leadership and mentorship
• Commitment to serving underserved populations with empathy, cultural humility, and professionalism
• Able to work on-site in San Leandro, CA
