Assistant Director of Social Work (LCSW)
As the Assistant Director of Social Work (LCSW), you will provide leadership, strategic oversight, and operational support for the hospital’s Social Work Department. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality psychosocial care, supporting complex discharge planning, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
You will serve as a key leader in staff development, program evaluation, quality improvement, and patient-centered care initiatives throughout the health system.
Schedule / Shift
Shift details: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Contract length (if applicable): Direct Hire
Supervise, mentor, and support social work staff, interns, and team operations while ensuring adequate departmental coverageProvide guidance on complex discharge planning, crisis intervention, psychosocial assessments, and high-risk patient cases
Collaborate with physicians, nursing, case management, and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient flow, transitions of care, and clinical outcomes
Assist in developing policies, procedures, quality improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance programs for the Social Work Department
Participate in recruitment, training, performance management, program development, and hospital-wide committees and initiatives
Required: Master of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institutionPreferred (if applicable): Advanced clinical or healthcare-related certification
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New York StateCurrent registration/licensure with the applicable professional regulatory body

Strong clinical judgment and experience managing complex cases within an acute care environmentIn-depth knowledge of discharge planning, care transitions, patient flow, and community resources
