Job Description
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve manufacturing processes for complex, tight-tolerance precision components, ensuring optimal manufacturability, quality, and production efficiency.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive manufacturing plans, including operation sequences, tooling requirements, setup instructions, and production standards for new and existing products.
  • Analyze customer drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and GD&T requirements to translate technical requirements into detailed manufacturing processes and production workflows.
  • Support production operations through machine setup and process validation activities across CNC turning, milling, grinding, and manual machining environments.
  • Design and implement custom fixtures, tooling, gages, and workholding solutions to improve process repeatability, setup consistency, and overall manufacturing performance.
  • Develop inspection plans and perform in-process dimensional verification using precision metrology equipment, ensuring conformance to customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with CNC programmers, quality personnel, and production teams by creating and maintaining 3D CAD models and technical documentation to support machining and inspection activities.
  • Investigate and resolve manufacturing issues through root-cause analysis and process improvements to enhance product quality, reduce variation, and improve throughput.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations, validate certifications, and ensure compliance with customer and special process requirements.
  • Maintain accurate manufacturing data, routing information, labor standards, and process documentation within the ERP system, ensuring all revisions, specifications, and certifications are current prior to production release.
  • Review repeat and new production orders to verify engineering changes, drawing revisions, material requirements, and special process updates before manufacturing begins.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost reduction, delivery performance, and operational excellence.

The Successful Applicant

A successful process engineer will have the following experience:

  • CNC manufacturing experience
  • Programming experience is a plus
  • Experience with manufacturing process improvements
  • Experience with SolidWorks and 3D modeling
  • MasterCam
  • Epicor experience would be a plus
