Tax Manager

Responsibilities
-Manage and/or prepare complex tax compliance, planning, consulting, and advisory engagements for high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, estates, private foundations, and closely held businesses.-Build trusted relationships with clients through regular in-person meetings and proactive communication.
- Serve as a strategic advisor by identifying tax planning opportunities that align with personal, estate, philanthropic, and business objectives.
- Review tax returns, workpapers, and supporting documentation for technical accuracy and compliance.
- Research complex federal and state tax issues and provide practical recommendations.
- Manage multiple engagements while ensuring deadlines, budgets, and client expectations are met.
- Collaborate with internal specialists to deliver comprehensive tax solutions.
- Monitor engagement performance, workflow, staffing, and project profitability.
- Stay current on tax legislation and communicate relevant changes to clients and team members.
- Mentor, coach, and develop junior tax professionals.
- Participate in recruiting, onboarding, training, and staff development initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the Private Client Services practice.
- Suggest process improvements that enhance efficiency and client service.
- 5+ years of public tax accounting experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of individual, trust, estate, gift, partnership, and S corporation taxation.
- Experience using professional tax preparation software (specific software experience not required).
- Comfortable working directly with clients and serving in a consultative role.
- Michigan resident.
Relocation is not available for this position.
-Preferred Qualifications-Active CPA license is preferred. (Reimbursement offered for obtaining CPA)-Candidates based in or near the Grand Rapids area.
