Responsibilities

The Quality Control / CMM Operator is responsible for verifying the dimensional accuracy of precision-machined aerospace and industrial components. This role balances automated CMM operation with traditional manual inspection to ensure 100% compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.

Essential Functions
  • Inspection Planning: Analyze aerospace blueprints to determine optimal metrology methods and select appropriate inspection equipment.
  • Manual Verification: Perform manual inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gages, and bore gages when CMM use is impractical or for secondary verification.
  • Mathematical Analysis: Apply advanced shop math to calculate dimensions, offsets, and tolerances not explicitly defined on engineering prints.
  • Traceability & Adherence: Maintain meticulous records of inspection results to ensure full material and process traceability.
  • Equipment Operation: Execute part setups and run inspection programs on Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
Requirements
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Technical Math: Proficiency in geometry and trigonometry for manufacturing applications.
  • Precision Tooling: Demonstrated experience with hand-held precision measurement instruments.
  • Attention to Detail: Rigorous commitment to following written work instructions and quality protocols.
