Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support in a busy healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will have recent Medical Assistant experience, strong back-office clinical skills, and hands-on experience with Epic EMR, phlebotomy, EKGs, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection.
Key Responsibilities- Perform patient intake and rooming according to established clinical procedures.
- Obtain and accurately document vital signs and patient information.
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection.
- Perform EKGs and other routine clinical procedures.
- Conduct basic point-of-care testing (POCT), including urinalysis, glucose testing, and rapid diagnostic tests.
- Assist with and administer vaccinations and injections as permitted by scope of practice.
- Complete medication reconciliation and document patient medical histories.
- Accurately enter and maintain patient information in the Epic EMR/EHR system.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure adequate supplies are available.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked clinical areas.
- Follow infection-control procedures, HIPAA requirements, and healthcare safety standards.
- Assist providers with back-office clinical procedures and patient care.
- Properly label, process, and handle laboratory specimens.
- Provide compassionate, respectful, and empathetic patient care.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide coverage support at other Manhattan locations when needed and communicated in advance.
- Perform other clinical and administrative duties as assigned.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- 1+ year of recent Medical Assistant experience in a medical office, clinic, hospital, or similar healthcare setting.
- Nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification such as AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or NAHP.
- Hands-on experience with Epic EMR.
- Experience with phlebotomy, EKGs, POCT, urinalysis, and other back-office procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.
- Current CPR/BLS certification — preferred, but not required.
- Experience with vaccinations and injections.
- Strong specimen collection skills.
- Experience with medication reconciliation and medical history documentation.
- Experience performing rapid diagnostic testing.
- Strong patient-service skills and a compassionate, empathetic approach.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a nationally certified Medical Assistant with at least one year of recent clinical experience and strong hands-on back-office skills. Candidates with Epic EMR experience, phlebotomy, EKG, POCT, and specimen collection experience will be especially well suited for this opportunity.
Pay Details: $28.28 per hour
