Supervisor of Special Education (Student Support Services)

Job SummarySteubenville Catholic Central is seeking a visionary and faith-filled person to lead our student support programs. The lead person will work with teachers, parents, and public districts to oversee the processes of identification, placement, and specialized instruction for students with diverse learning needs.
The director will use knowledge of academic and behavioral best practices to ensure that our educational environment remains inclusive, academically rigorous, and rooted in the Gospel. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between meeting the identified needs of our special education population and the mission of Catholic education.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership: Design, implement, and evaluate school-wide special education services, including knowledge of MTSS. The individual should understand best practices in intervention services, inclusion models, speech/language services, occupational therapy, and behavioral needs.
Compliance & Advocacy: Serve as the primary liaison between the school and Local Education Agencies (LEAs) regarding Child Find, ETRs, IEPS, 504s, and the development of Individualized Service Plans (ISPs).Staff Supervision: Recruit, supervise, and mentor special education teachers and instructional aides. Provide high-quality professional development on differentiated instruction and behavioral interventions. Work closely with teachers on making
accommodations and modifications in the classroom.Family Partnership: Act as a compassionate resource for families, guiding them through the evaluation process and ensuring a collaborative "partnership in mission" between home and school.
Budget & Grants: Manage the special education budget and oversee applications for state and federal scholarships, grants or auxiliary service funding.
Testing: The supervisor will ensure that all testing of students meet the requirements and timelines of the testing coordinator. The accommodations and practices documented for each student are being followed in the implementation of the test based on the IEP or
accommodations plan.
Training: Work with administrative team to ensure all staff are trained properly in special education best practices.Scholarship: The ability to learn the educational requirements in private schools for John Peterson application and Autism applications for private schools. The willingness to learn the application process, qualifications, funding mechanisms and good practices for ensuring successful support.
These programs support the financial responsibilities of the school and the parent in providing quality educational supports and practices.
Required QualificationsFaith Leadership: A practicing Catholic in good standing with a deep commitment to the mission of Catholic schools.
Education: Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
Certification: Valid special education license, preference to someone with a state administrative license and/or Special Education Director endorsement.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching in special education, with prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge & SkillsExpertise in federal and state special education laws (IDEA, Child Find, ADA, Section 504).
Strong ability to analyze data to drive instructional improvements.
Excellent conflict-resolution skills and the ability to lead difficult meetings with grace and professionalism.
