Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) in Seattle, WA. This contract position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a high-risk, high-volume labor and delivery unit. As an L&D RN, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery and provide continuous care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum.
- Float to postpartum and antepartum as needed, including to sister facilities that handle Mother/Baby care.
- Support midwifery clients and private OBs, as well as adult recovery services for substance recovery.
- Utilize electronic fetal monitoring and maintain compliance with AWHONN guidelines.
- Administer medications such as Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate, and provide newborn care including eye and thigh assessments, as well as Vitamin K injections.
Patient Diagnoses: Midwifery clients, private OBs, adult recovery services, and community care clinics.
Unit Details: High-risk, high-volume L&D unit with an average daily census of 15 and 500-600 deliveries per month. The unit features 31 beds and operates with 4 ORs.
Certifications Required: BLS, NRP. Preferred: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate.
This position requires a minimum of 1 year of experience in a labor and delivery setting, with a focus on high-risk cases. Candidates must be able to work in fast-paced, high-acuity environments and are expected to float as needed.
