Staff Accountant
Job Title: Staff Accountant (Contract) Location: In-Office (Dedicated Office Space)
Target Rate: $30.00 - $33.00/hrSchedule: Flexible Part-Time The Role
Working directly with the Owner and CFO, you will manage the full-cycle accounting for our Service, Mechanical Installation, and Overhead departments. You’ll have a dedicated private office and the flexibility to set a consistent daily schedule that works for you (e.g., 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM). Key Responsibilities
- Forensic Cleanup: Review and organize historical accounts to establish a clean, accurate general ledger.
- Full-Cycle AP: Manage approximately 50 vendors, ensuring accurate coding and timely payments.
- Complex Reconciliations: Perform daily and monthly reconciliations for 2 bank accounts and 5 credit cards.
- Job Costing: Analyze automated job cost reports post-payroll to track project profitability.
- Legacy Systems Management: Navigate our unique, VPN-based accounting software ("SA Win") with precision and care.
- Financial Reporting: Assist with tax matters and provide data-driven insights to ownership regarding departmental performance.
- The Standalone Pro: You have several years of experience as a standalone Bookkeeper or Staff Accountant. You don’t need your hand held; you know what needs to be done.
- The Organizer: You have a "detective" mindset for finding errors and a passion for creating order out of chaos.
- The Tech Adapter: You are comfortable with legacy, non-cloud software and can work efficiently within a VPN environment.
- Reliable & Consistent: You value a stable, in-office environment.

- Pay: Targeted at $30.00 - $33.00/hr depending on the depth of your experience.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive cleanup of existing accounts to ensure accuracy and structural integrity.
- Execute daily and monthly reconciliations for bank accounts and corporate credit cards.
- Maintain the General Ledger within a legacy in VPN-based system (SA Win).
- Manage the end-to-end AP process for approximately 50 vendors.
- Ensure accurate coding of expenses across departmental lines (Service vs. Construction).
- Verify vendor statements and resolve discrepancies to maintain supplier relationships.
- Analyze and validate Job Cost reports post-payroll for 30 employees.
- Assist with tax preparation and compliance matters.
- Act as a technical lead for the "SA Win" system, documenting workflows for a non-cloud environment.
- Provide "clean" financial data to support the transition from a messy historical state to a structured, audit-ready environment.
